Editorial Standards & Corrections Policy
Our Family Travel holds all published content to a rigorous standard of accuracy, clarity, and fairness. This page documents the quality bar we apply to every article, guide, and tool on this site.
What Every Article Must Have
Before any article is published, it must include all of the following:
- Quick Answer box at the top — a concise summary of the article’s key takeaway.
- Table of Contents with jump links for easy navigation.
- Internal links to relevant hub pages within the first 3 paragraphs.
- Tool links where applicable (e.g., our Trip Calculator for budget-relevant content).
- FAQ section with at least 5 questions and answers, marked up with FAQPage schema.
- “Last Updated” date prominently displayed in the article header.
- Author byline with a link to the author’s bio page.
- “Reviewed by Our Family Travel Editorial Team” line for quality assurance transparency.
Fact-Checking Protocol
Every factual claim in every article is verified before publication:
- Primary sources first. Official Disney websites, official communications, and direct vendor data are the gold standard.
- Secondary sources when primary is unavailable. Reputable news outlets, documented databases, and expert interviews.
- Clear labeling when data is uncertain. If we cannot verify a fact, we mark it as “UNVERIFIED — needs human review” and escalate.
- No fabrication. We never invent prices, system names, features, or policies. If we don’t know, we say so and verify before publishing.
Types of Callout Boxes
We use consistent callout box types throughout our content to help readers find the information they need quickly:
| Box Type | When We Use It |
|---|---|
| Quick Answer | Summary answer at the top of every article |
| Why It Matters | Mid-article explanation of significance |
| Our Recommendation | Clear editorial opinion or recommendation |
| Important Update | When information may have changed — “verify before you go” |
| Pro Tip | Actionable tip within content |
Correction Policy
While we aim for error-free content, mistakes will occur from time to time. We uphold our journalistic integrity by correcting such errors in a timely manner.
We believe that with great power comes great responsibility. We aim to be accountable, accurate, and an authority.
How corrections work:
- When an error is identified (by a reader, editor, or our own review), the article is flagged for correction.
- The correction is made and the “Last Updated” date is changed.
- For significant factual corrections, a correction note is added at the top of the article describing what was changed.
- All corrections are logged internally for editorial review and process improvement.
If you believe you’ve found an error in our content, please contact us. We take every correction seriously.
Affiliate & Commercial Independence
Our editorial recommendations are never influenced by affiliate partnerships or commercial relationships. Our affiliate links are placed contextually within content where they’re genuinely helpful to the reader. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
