About Our Family Travel

Planning a family trip should feel exciting — not like a second full-time job.

At Our Family Travel, we help parents plan better trips with less stress, fewer expensive mistakes, and more confidence. We focus heavily on Disney destinations (Disney World and Disneyland), but our mission is bigger than one destination: practical, honest, family-first travel advice that actually works in real life.

If you’re trying to figure out where to stay, how to budget, what to book first, and how to avoid meltdowns (from kids or adults), you’re in the right place.

Our Story

Our Family Travel started the same way most good family travel projects do: with too many tabs open, too much conflicting advice, and not enough time.

Like a lot of families, we learned that trip planning sounds simple until you’re actually doing it. Suddenly you’re comparing resorts, deciding between park tickets, trying to time dining reservations, figuring out transportation, and wondering if you forgot something important. The internet has a lot of “ultimate guides,” but much of it is vague, outdated, or written by people who don’t travel the way families do.

So we built the resource we wished we had.

Our goal has always been straightforward: make planning easier for real families with real budgets, real schedules, and real kids.

    • Realistic trip cost planning
    • Where to save (and where spending more is worth it)
    • Family budget scenarios

How We Research and Recommend

We take recommendations seriously because we know families are making expensive decisions based on what they read.

When we publish planning advice, we aim for:

  1. Experience-backed guidance
We prioritize practical recommendations based on real family-travel conditions: limited time, tired kids, budget limits, and changing plans.
  2. Current, checkable information
Prices, policy details, and logistics change. We refresh key planning pages and tool data regularly, and we avoid presenting speculation as fact.
  3. Decision clarity over content volume
We don’t write to fill space. We write to help you choose: this resort vs that resort, this strategy vs that strategy, this plan vs no plan.
  4. Useful over perfect
A good, realistic plan beats an “ideal” plan you can’t execute with kids.

Who This Site Is For (And Who It Isn’t)

This site is for you if:

  • You’re planning family trips and want clear, practical guidance.
  • You care about value and want to spend intentionally.
  • You prefer straight advice over hype.
  • You want help turning “too many options” into a simple plan.

This site might not be for you if:

  • You only want luxury-only recommendations regardless of cost.
  • You enjoy highly improvisational travel with no planning.
  • You’re looking for generic listicles with no trade-offs or context.

Our Editorial Values

We run this site with a few non-negotiables:

  • Be honest.
If something is inconvenient, crowded, overpriced, or overhyped, we say so.
  • Be practical.
Advice should work for families in the real world, not just in theory.
  • Respect time and budget.
Parents don’t have infinite time to plan or infinite money to spend.
  • Stay useful.
Every article should help a real decision, not just answer a keyword.
  • Keep trust first.
If we recommend something, it should be something we’d feel good suggesting to a friend planning with kids.
